1. Introduction & Data Fiduciary Details
Welcome to B A C SpeedTest (accessible at https://speedtest.officialbac.in), operated by B A C ("we", "us", "our", or the "Data Fiduciary").
We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy outlines our transparent practices regarding the collection, processing, usage, and safeguarding of network diagnostic telemetry under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of the Republic of India and international data protection standards (including the General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR).
2. Telemetry & Data We Collect
B A C SpeedTest is a technical network diagnostic utility designed to measure bandwidth without harvesting sensitive personal identifiers. We do NOT collect names, phone numbers, email addresses, physical home addresses, or financial data.
- Network Metrics: Download speed, upload throughput, round-trip latency (ping), packet jitter, and stream transfer durations.
- IP Address: Your public IPv4 or IPv6 address (used strictly for geolocation matching to the nearest test node and ISP resolution).
- ISP & Peering Data: Internet Service Provider (ISP) name, Autonomous System Number (ASN), and approximate city/region based on public BGP/GeoIP records.
- Device Telemetry: Browser family and Operating System version (User-Agent header) to detect hardware/browser processing constraints during benchmarks.
- Timestamp: Precise date and time of the test in Indian Standard Time (IST / UTC+05:30).
3. Purpose of Data Processing (Lawful Basis)
Under Section 4 and Section 6 of the DPDP Act 2023, personal data is processed solely for specified lawful purposes based on user consent and legitimate telemetry operations:
- Providing immediate real-time broadband capacity measurements to the user.
- Generating unique shareable cryptographic benchmark certificates (
/result/:id). - Computing aggregated, anonymized regional speed indexes and global network averages across Indian metropolitan telecom clusters.
- Diagnosing routing congestion and network routing anomalies across our 21 Pan-India server nodes.
4. Data Storage & Indian Localization
Speed benchmark records are stored securely on enterprise MongoDB Atlas clusters with end-to-end TLS 1.3 encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest. In compliance with data sovereignty regulations, primary telemetry datasets are maintained on infrastructure located within the sovereign territory of India.
5. Your Rights as a Data Principal
Under Chapter III of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you (the Data Principal) possess enforceable statutory rights:
